The rain was just bad or very bad until I got to far western Mass. The closest I got to a sighting was an Egremont, Mass., officer sitting in his cruiser writing a ticket. Lots of NYSP cars, and I'm sleeping across from Troop F Headquarters tonight.

Sightings: two guys in thermal duck coveralls (one was Wall's; the other may have been Carhartt--why do I care about this?), some black logger boots while shopping.

The drive back was good, and I was surprised how little traffic there was. In spite of all the bikers out, the only ones that I got close to were wearing sneakers and little or leather. And, the up-close cops were young and skinny.
